One Off Hospitality has been developing and operating some of Chicago's most beloved places to eat and drink for almost 30 years. We are a group of people who believe in treating our guests like family and our restaurants like home. The location for this position is AVEC WEST LOOP (615 Randolph St). The position reports to the General Manager and is non-exempt.

The host is responsible for setting the stage for exceptional accommodation and organization for the restaurant through telephone service, greeting, seating, and setting the pace for each service.

Essential duties and responsibilities include maintaining a cheerful, courteous disposition and a neat, clean, and professional image; greeting all guests as they enter and putting them on a waiting list as necessary; providing guests with menus and answering any initial questions; seating guests at tables or in waiting areas; assigning guests to tables they prefer while keeping table rotation in mind; engaging with guests to ensure they are happy with food and service; answering phone calls, taking reservations, and answering questions; gaining knowledge of the menu to make recommendations to guests that ask; keeping the host area stocked, neat, clean, and free of clutter; checking for restocking of necessary supplies, bringing all areas up to standard, and discussing problem areas with the manager; performing shift change and/or opening or closing duties; keeping the immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and taking prompt corrective action where necessary; adhering to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures; and assisting other team members as needed or when business needs dictate.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED graduate, food handler certification, the ability to handle stress under pressure, willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment, the ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical demands and work environment include the ability to be flexible with job demands and open-minded when being asked to complete tasks; the ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the restaurant; the ability to move or handle equipment throughout the restaurant generally weighing 0-50 pounds; the ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates; the ability to stand for up to 8-10 hours a day; and the ability to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
