Respiratory Therapist

The position requires performing 5-6 ventilator settings and administering around 35 treatments in a 12-hour period. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, and PALS, with NRP also required for NICU experience. Types of patients include adults, pediatrics, and neonates for those who are NICU trained. The role includes attendance at all deliveries and C-sections. The areas covered are inpatient care and a freestanding emergency department. Expect a 15-minute drive for potential floating to the emergency department. Experience of 2 years is acceptable for first-time travelers. Job duties entail drawing and analyzing ABGs, providing treatments, and setting ventilators. Travelers are not required to intubate independently but must assist in the process. An intensivist is available in-house 24/7. A Charge RRT is present on each shift. Travelers will never be the only RT in-house at the main hospital but may be the only one at the freestanding emergency department. Equipment utilized includes Vent-Avea, Hamilton C1, Bipap-V60, EV300, HiFlow-Aerovo 2, and Zoll vents for backup. Glidescope and Glidescope-GO are used for intubation assistance. Shifts are from 1900 to 0700, with no guaranteed block scheduling, but accommodations may be made when possible. Every other weekend is required, and travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays. There may be a "low census" call or standby call requirement. Floating to the freestanding emergency department may be required. The dress code consists of black scrubs. Orientation includes introductory shifts across various departments, with an additional day for NICU experience if applicable. Cancellation may occur for hours equivalent to the weekly guaranteed hours for the assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. This position does not require a BSN. A trauma level of 2 is expected, and the care setting is acute. The division is Allied Health.
