Job Description

Job Summary:
The Surgical Technologist - Non Certified provides essential support to the surgical team during operative procedures. They are responsible for preparing operating rooms, handling sterile supplies, and assisting with patient care to ensure a safe and efficient surgical environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare surgical suites, supplies, and equipment adhering to safety and infection control standards.
• Maintain the sterility of supplies and monitor equipment readiness for procedures.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Support patient pre-operative care by ensuring individualized attention and proper transfer procedures.
• Adhere to aseptic techniques throughout surgeries and actively monitor the environment for potential breaches.
• Participate in safety protocols, including time-out procedures, and document incidents or unsafe conditions.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; graduate of an approved OR Surgical Technologist course.
• Minimum of one year of clinical or surgical scrub experience in an ambulatory surgical setting.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow safety and procedural documentation.
• Strong understanding of infection control, sterile techniques, and surgical environment operations.
• Proficient in computer skills including Internet, spreadsheets, and word processing.
