About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: CVOR Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience. CVOR experience required. Trauma experience highly preferred. License: Registered Nurse License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: CVOR experience Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and based on patient and family needs. Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers, and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin the appropriate solution. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Prepares the operating room suite for patients, including supplies, equipment, medications, and other needs. Interviews the patient using two identifiers (name and date of birth). Transports the patient to the appropriate operating room suite and onto the operating room table using safety precautions. Performs timeouts upon entry of the suite, prior to incision, and prior to exiting the operating room suite. Appropriately positions and prepares the patient for the procedure utilizing positional aides and guidelines. Supports the surgical team during the procedure by responding to requests from the team for extra supplies, blood, specimens, cultures, other medications, and dressings. Transports the patient to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) or specific unit and provides handoff to the receiving RN. Scheduled work includes on-call shifts and potential floating to other areas as needed.
