Prospect Heights School District 23 has an opening for a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse for the 2026-27 school year starting immediately at Eisenhower Elementary School. Starting rate is $29.29/hour, eligible for full benefits and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). Requirements: Must have State of Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse certification and preferred candidate will also have an ELS (PARA) license issued by ISBE. Additional qualifications include the ability to support a variety of student needs and flexibility with job responsibilities. Will need to travel between Ross and Eisenhower Elementary Schools. Qualifications

• State of Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse License
• Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification
• Ability to physically move about the building and move between buildings.
• Ability to lift and position students (30-80 pounds) when assigned to a classroom or student with such requirements
• Ability to make decisions with minimal supervision in accordance with established procedures
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English to understand directions and communicate with students, staff and parents
• Good organizational skills and the ability to work well with adults and children

Performance Responsibilities

• Provide direct professional nursing services to students which include but may not be limited to: Nasotracheal suctioning, Tracheostomy care, Gastrostomy tube care/feeding, Urinary tract catheterization, dispensing of medication, carry out health care plans
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of the educational program under the supervision of, and as directed by the assigned certified staff member
• Assist in the direct supervision of students under the supervision of, and as directed by the assigned certified staff member
• Work directly with School Nurse to carry out specific tasks related to students' health needs and infection control procedures
• Review, understand and implement assigned duties pertaining to individualized healthcare plans
• Administer and monitor any medical treatment and/or medication given to students while attending school
• Perform minor first-aid on injured students or staff
• Assist with conducting school screenings and referrals
• Document pertinent health information and facilitate accommodations as required to meet the medical needs of students
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and parents
• Demonstrate cooperation, openness for growth, and willingness to contribute to a team approach
• Communicate effectively with administration, school nurse, special education staff, and family/guardian regarding health information, when necessary
• Maintain medical equipment and supplies as appropriate
• Maintain health data/records and perform clerical work
• Maintain confidentiality regarding work with students with special needs
• Participate in general staff meetings, training programs and in-service sessions as required
• Assume other responsibilities as assigned, including supporting the school nurse's office
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with ESP procedures that are provided in the negotiated contract.
