Senior Accountant

Location: Niles, Michigan Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite Salary: $90,000–$100,000 Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a fast-paced, high-volume organization in Niles, Michigan. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who brings a strong combination of public accounting and private industry experience , along with the ability to take ownership of financial reporting and help lead a small accounting team. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, organized, and comfortable working in an environment where priorities move quickly. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end close, and providing leadership and guidance to the accounting team. Key Responsibilities Lead and support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial results. Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports. Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and other core accounting functions. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while identifying and resolving discrepancies. Lead and mentor a small accounting team, providing direction, training, and day-to-day support. Collaborate with leadership and operational teams to provide financial insight and support business decisions. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and other financial planning activities. Support external audits, tax requirements, and other compliance-related activities. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and overall efficiency. Successfully manage multiple priorities and deadlines within a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a combination of public accounting and private industry experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting. Proven experience with month-end close and preparation of financial statements. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising accounting staff. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines. Hands-on, collaborative leadership style with a willingness to jump in and help the team succeed.
