Job Description
The Cook accurately and efficiently prepares, portions, cooks, and presents a variety of hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events in a fast-paced food service environment.
Responsibilities

• Prepare, portion, and cook a wide range of hot and cold food items according to established recipes and standards.
• Support food service operations across multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events.
• Ensure all dishes are presented consistently and attractively before serving.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and appearance throughout service.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, and safety procedures at all times.
• Work efficiently on the line to meet customer demand in a fast-paced environment.
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping, measuring, and organizing ingredients.
• Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
• Keep workstations clean, organized, and stocked during and after each shift.
• Adapt to varying menus, event requirements, and meal periods as needed.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience working as a cook in a food service or restaurant environment.
• Proficiency in line cooking, including working multiple stations during peak service.
• Hands-on experience with food preparation techniques for both hot and cold menu items.
• Ability to follow recipes and portion guidelines accurately and consistently.
• Strong time management skills to handle multiple orders in a fast-paced setting.
• Attention to detail in food presentation and quality.
• Knowledge of basic kitchen safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work flexibly across different meal periods and event types.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a line cook in a high-volume or fast-paced kitchen.
• Experience in foodservice operations, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catering.
• Experience supporting special events or catered functions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with chefs and other kitchen staff.
• Comfort working with a variety of cooking equipment and tools.

Work Environment
This role operates in a fast-paced food services environment that requires consistent attention to timing, quality, and safety. You work an 8-hour shift scheduled flexibly between 5:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on any day of the week, depending on operational needs and meal periods. The kitchen is active and busy, with continuous movement, collaboration with other staff, and frequent interaction with cooking equipment and food preparation areas. Appropriate kitchen attire, including non-slip footwear and protective clothing, is expected to support safety and professionalism.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.11 - $18.11/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
