Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience, NC or compact RN license, and NIHSS certification.

Job Details

• 16-bed ICU within a critical care unit at a stroke center (primary) and teaching hospital system,
• 96 licensed beds facility-wide with an average daily census of 10 patients in the ICU,
• MICU-type patient population including ARDS, sepsis, COPD, DKA, and stroke cases,
• RN to patient ratio of 2:1 for ICU patients and 3:1 for IMC patients,
• CNA support typically 1, sometimes 2 per shift,
• 12-hour night shift schedule from 1900-0700, 36 hours per week,
• Every other weekend rotation required,
• No on-call or call-back requirements,
• Floating required to Med Surg (4:1 ratio) and available as a resource to the ED with no assignment,
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and GE monitors,
• Unit-specific equipment includes Bair Hugger, Verathon Bladder Scanner, and Blanketrol machine,
• Charge nurse, resource nurse, phlebotomy, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist support available on the unit,

Job Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required,
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required,
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required,
• Minimum 12 months of core work experience in ICU specialty required, with most recent experience within the last year,
• Skilled in arterial line management, vasoactive medication titration, ventilator management and weaning, and chest tube management,
• EPIC EMR experience required,
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN,
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to ICU and IMC patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions,
• Work alongside a unit culture of newer graduate nurses on nights, providing mentorship and clinical guidance,
• Facility-provided orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation,
• Royal blue scrubs required,
• Free on-site parking available,
• Holiday coverage required for approximately 75% of holidays,
• First-time travelers considered if they have strong ICU experience,
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible,
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before reapplying
