As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of patients while enjoying competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and the support of a dedicated clinical team.Required Qualifications:One year of recent experience as a Pre/Post-Op RNValid RN license in compliance with state regulationsCurrent BLS (AHA/ARC) CertificationPreferred Qualifications:ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC)PALS (AHA/ARC) certificationOther certifications and licenses may be required for this positionSummary:The Post/Pre-Op Registered Nurse provides specialized care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery. This role involves assessing patient health before and after surgery, implementing care plans, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The Post/Pre-Op RN ensures patient safety and comfort prior to and during the surgical recovery period, using advanced clinical skills, effective communication, and adherence to professional and regulatory standards.Essential Work Functions:Assess patients pre-operatively, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and identifying potential risksPrepare patients for surgery, including educating them about procedures and post-operative careReceive and conduct comprehensive assessments of patients transferring from the operating room and assess their post-anesthesia conditionMonitor patients post-operatively for complications and manages pain and recoveryAdminister prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniquesMaintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients in the perioperative settingObserve and document patient conditions treatments, and significant incidents. and responses to anesthesia and treatments, notifying the care team of significant changes or adverse reactionsTake temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal, assess patient condition and respond appropriatelyRespond promptly to emergency situations utilizing Pre/post op nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocolsAccurately document patient assessments, interventions, and recovery progress in medical recordsDevelop and deliver individualized patient and family education plans, including detailed discharge instructions and recovery guidelinesCollaborate with the surgical team and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive pre and post-operative careParticipate in patient handoff communications to ensure continuity of care between units and departmentsOperate and monitor pre and post op-specific equipment, such as ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumpsPerform other duties as assigned within the scope of practiceAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsRequired Essential Skills:Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skillsThe ability to read, write, and communicate in the English languageAbility to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skillsPhysical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bendInterpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipmentMental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
