Express Employment Professionals – Tyler, TX is partnering with a well-established industrial company to add an experienced estimator who thrives in the field and on the shop floor. Your estimates will guide pricing for field construction projects and product manufacturing so leadership can confidently quote work to customers.

A day in the role

Picture this: you start with engineering drawings, walk the floor to validate assumptions, and connect with vendors and foremen to firm up materials, tooling, and timeline. By afternoon, you’ve built a clear, competitive estimate that reflects codes, labor, subcontracting, and equipment—ready for management review and customer follow-up.

What you’ll do

• Develop detailed cost estimates for industrial manufacturing and field construction projects that inform competitive bids.
• Produce accurate material takeoffs and comprehensive lists of tools, fixtures, and equipment, grounded in expertise with tank fabrication, welding procedures, blueprints, and applicable codes (API, ASME, and customer specifications).
• Decide which tooling, fixtures, and equipment to fabricate internally versus procure from outside suppliers.
• Calculate total costs across materials, purchased equipment, subcontracted activities, production processes, and labor.
• Engage directly with customers to clarify bid requirements, resolve questions, and incorporate changes for precise proposals.
• Prepare and submit bid packages for management approval; revise quotes promptly when scope or requirements shift.
• Coordinate with shop and field foremen to track progress and integrate revisions into estimates.

What you bring

• Fluency in reading and interpreting engineering detail drawings and bills of material.
• Advanced math capability and comfort with estimating formulas and cost modeling.
• Working knowledge of industrial fabrication and construction environments.

Compliance

Must be able to pass required drug and alcohol testing per company policy.

Work setup & schedule

• Full-time, on-site role within a professional industrial setting in the East Texas area.
• Daytime schedule; compensation and specific hours will be discussed during the interview based on your experience and qualifications.
