Date: Jul 17, 2026 Location: AUSTIN, TX Position Functional Title: Medical APRN Job Title: Advanced Practice RN II Agency: Health & Human Services Comm Department: Physician Services Posting Number: 19051 Closing Date: 09/15/2026 Salary Range: $11,800.00 - $14,356.00 Pay Frequency: Monthly About This Role Our State Supported Living Centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or have behavioral challenges. This position provides advanced clinical medical care under the supervision of a physician, managing acute and chronic health needs, prescribing medication within scope, and coordinating care with an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities Perform advanced nursing assessments, diagnosis, treatment and create individualized care plans. Prescribe medication and review efficacy within allowed scope. Provide acute, chronic and comprehensive care including rounds and nursing rounds, in both clinic and infirmary settings. Interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging, and order procedures as appropriate. Document all patient care, including dictation of annual summaries and pre‑procedural histories. Supervise nursing staff, assign priorities, and provide coaching and training. Participate in disaster response or COOP activation as required. Provide treatment to HHS employees who become injured while performing duties. Serve on-call shifts on a rotating schedule and may work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Maintain compliance with DEA, NPI, Medicaid and Medicare Part B requirements. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Advanced medical and nursing knowledge, including public health laws and hospital operations. Expertise in medical evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of physical and mental disorders. Ability to interpret laboratory and imaging studies. Strong written and oral communication skills for presenting care plans. Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical records. Effective team collaboration and independent decision‑making. Proficiency in supervising and leading other healthcare personnel. Licensure & Certifications Registered Nurse in Texas or in a state part of the Nurse Licensure Compact. Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the Texas Board of Nursing. Current DEA registration and DEA certificate. National Provider Identifier (NPI) and enrollment as a Medicaid and Medicare Part B provider. Initial Screening Criteria Advanced Practice RN education with a master’s degree or higher, accredited by a national nursing accrediting body. Minimum two years of clinical nursing experience. Preferred one year of work experience as an Advanced Practice RN. Experience supervising or leading other healthcare staff. Pass required criminal background, drug screen, and registry checks.
