Compensation & Benefits The initial starting compensation for this position is $70,304.00 per year; depending on experience, location, and internal equity considerations. Job Summary This position is responsible for day-to-day operations of one or more Head Start/Early Head Start centers and may also coordinate services with assigned childcare partner centers. The Service Area Supervisor covers multiple classrooms, ensuring regulatory and legal compliance, communicating with parents and community, and supervising staff. Responsibilities Develop and monitor center and staff schedules; arrange and schedule substitutes for the center classrooms. Oversee implementation of infant, toddler, or preschool curriculum, ensuring curriculum fidelity and leading teamwork to maintain quality ratings by QRIS, including ITERS and CLASS. Train and coach teachers, classroom aides, and family service associates at the center and at staff development events such as the STEM Curriculum Fair and preservice. Monitor and coordinate lesson plans, child assessments, DRDP, home visits/parent‑teacher conferences, needs and service plans, and school readiness goals in all center classrooms. Coordinate family, staff workdays for center improvements, fairs, events, etc. Establish and foster a team approach and coordinate services, sharing resources among centers. Conduct monthly safety checks, fire drills, and safety meetings; update the Safety Log. Investigate any child or staff incidents; ensure all forms are completed and notify the appropriate authorities and/or supervisor. Attend IFSP/IEP meetings as needed or requested. Contribute to the collection and editing processes of correct documentation for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Maintain minutes, sign‑in sheets, in‑kind forms, training logs, etc. Participate in training opportunities, state‑sponsored meetings, committees, and task forces as appropriate. Work with staff and parents to plan and coordinate Family Nights and Parent Committee meetings. Receive and respond to verbal and written complaints about the program/center while managing the Parent/Community Complaint procedure at the center level. Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and standards as well as any state and federal contracts, health, safety, and licensing regulations. Assure compliance with quality assurance and program evaluation requirements. Plan for and equip indoor and outdoor areas to meet children’s developmental and safety needs. Monitor staff attendance, collect, verify, and sign all staff time sheets and leave requests, verifying accuracy. Monitor employee on‑site file requirements and keep them secure in locked files. Develop and implement a plan and system of continuous ongoing monitoring and evaluation of activities within the program. Meet with parents and community members as appropriate. Maintain strict confidentiality with respect to Head Start/Early Head Start children, families, and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assist in fiscal management of the center by monitoring financial records, expenditures, and accounts payable and receivable in a timely manner. Report to work on time and maintain reliable and regular attendance. Model Pacific Clinics’ approach, mission and core values in all communication and correspondence. Qualifications Required: BA/BS Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education. Possess a Program Director’s permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing; CLASS certification desired. Coursework in infant‑toddler development desired (for SAS working with EHS). Must maintain DOJ, FBI, and Child Abuse Index Clearance. Must possess a current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification. Demonstrated ability to work in a Windows environment (including MS Office, Excel, Internet). Must possess a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and maintain an insurable driving record under the Clinics’ liability policy. Job Competencies Knowledgeable in child development of children birth to five, developmentally appropriate practice (DAP), and working with dual‑language learners (for SAS working with EHS). Understand, generate, and document in‑kind and other allowable costs applied toward the non‑federal share requirement. Understand Head Start Performance Standards and local/state childcare licensing regulations; implement Head Start Performance Standards and agency policies. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff, children and parents, and outside agencies; keep all information strictly confidential. Oversee and operate the day‑to‑day program in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Physical Requirements May occasionally need to provide gentle physical restraint to children. May be required to lift up to 45 pounds. Some exposure to communicable diseases. Noise level in work environment may be moderate to loud. Travel by car, bus, airplane, or train may be required for conferences, meetings, and other duties at distant locations; some overnight travel may also be required. Some evenings and weekend work may occasionally be required for events such as home visits, parent‑teacher conferences, Parent Committee meetings, social or community events.
