School Nurse - Bilingual

The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of School Nurse within the Office of Health Services. An appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate or eligible for an Emergency license as deemed necessary by the New Jersey Department of Education is required. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and a current New Jersey registered professional nurse license issued by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing are also required. Preferred minimum of five (5) years successful experience as a registered nurse. Bilingual and able to read, write and speak English. Spanish/Portuguese/French Creole is a plus.

Basic Functions and Responsibilities include developing a comprehensive health record on each new student, performing routine screenings, interpreting physical examination findings, providing emergency medical care, counseling parents and students, conducting tuberculin screening programs, reviewing medical records annually, providing input into health education programs, assisting in planning and maintaining a safe and healthful school environment, dispensing medication prescribed by a physician, administering prescribed treatments, and performing other duties consistent with specific contractual terms of employment.

Salary: $67,000-$111,625 for 2025-2026 SY (plus $3,000 stipend). Employment Period: Ten (10) months. Union Affiliation: Newark Teachers Association (NTA).
