Job Description and Duties

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento.

Under the general direction of the Supervisor II, Human Resources Branch, the Supervisor I is responsible for the management, leadership, and overall services and activities of the Medical Management Unit. A total of 4 professional and technical staff.

The Salary Range shown is the minimum and maximum for a full-time appointment. Moving and relocation expenses will not be reimbursed for this position.

Working Conditions

Part-time telework available. Telework requires California residency. This position offers hybrid telework opportunities; however, telework arrangements are subject to change at any time based on State & departmental operational needs. Employees may be required to report to the office as necessary.

Primarily semi-sedentary in a climate controlled modern office building. The position may require working under tight deadlines and irregular hours and may require several hours of reviewing documents in both electronic and hard copy. Requires use of a personal computer and other standard office equipment. Occasional reaching at or above shoulder level, occasional bending/stooping, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to communicate effectively with internal/external customers, give presentations; and participate at meetings, conferences, and workshops. Occasional travel to other agencies to attend meetings may be required and occasional overnight travel required.

Excellent communication, writing, interpersonal, research and analytical skills are essential Knowledge of and experience in interpreting and applying related governmental laws, rules, and regulations; knowledge of and experience in Principles & techniques of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and California Family Rights Act (CFRA), Reasonable Accommodation (RA), Fitness For Duty (FFD), Medical Options Letter, Medical Actions, and the Substance Abuse Program (SAP); general office equipment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio & FileMaker Pro. Develop & maintain cooperative working relationships; contribute to activities necessary to achieve the DMV's goals & affirmative action objectives. Ability to develop clear and fair departmental policies, think creatively and innovatively, and maintain confidentiality.
