Associate Professor/Chair – Applied Engineering Technology The College of Science and Technology at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a dynamic and forward-thinking Chairperson of the Department of Applied Engineering Technology. The ideal candidate will possess a distinguished record of scholarship and research; demonstrate a deep appreciation for the integration of learning, discovery, and engagement; and have extensive experience in higher education, including securing extramural funding. The preferred start date is August 2026 or earlier. This is a full‑time administrative position with a tenure‑track faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Responsibilities The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership to strengthen and expand the department’s academic, research, and service missions. The Chair will promote student success, student recruitment, and mentoring; ensure quality undergraduate and graduate programs; manage faculty workload; recruit, mentor, develop, evaluate, and promote faculty; support faculty research, teaching, and service; provide oversight and stewardship for the administrative, financial, and academic programs; engage faculty in strategic planning; conduct program assessment and reporting; maintain program accreditation; and teach. Qualifications Doctoral degree in Applied Engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Computer Graphics Technology, mechanical, chemical, or industrial engineering, or a closely related field. Record of scholarly activity commensurate with appointment as professor or associate professor. Experience in securing extramural funding and fundraising. Five (5) years of teaching and/or administrative experience in an ABET‑accredited program. Established record of research, publications, and professional accomplishments in applied engineering technology or related field. Experience with pursuing and maintaining ABET accreditation. Work Arrangement Position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. Employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina within a 2‑hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
