Position Objective The position of General School Assistant - CTE is responsible for assisting certificated staff at Newport High School to perform routine instructional and support tasks related to the CTE department within the school environment. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

(These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) Provides direct or indirect administrative support for the Newport High School CTE department. Maintains annual Pearson VUE Certified Test Administrator status and manages students taking Pearson VUE exams including maintaining the integrity of testing procedures, test security, and student privacy. Observes and records students’ individual progress on instructional objectives; maintains appropriate data and reports; adjusts objectives as indicated by monitoring of student progress. Helps students develop a positive attitude about self, academic achievement, and school. Assists CTE teachers by purchasing educational tools and materials, which includes tracking teacher budgets, filing weekly payment reports, and communicating with vendors and business partners. Assists certificated staff to encourage the integration of students into instructional and social activities offered by the school; may accompany groups of students on field trips and other outings. Attends relevant in-service training sessions and workshops. Attends appropriate staff meetings to coordinate instruction and to understand building goals. Performs related duties as required. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

(positions in this class typically require): High school graduation or equivalent and And have at least one of the following: ETS Paraeducator Assessment, or Have an Associate of Arts degree (original transcripts), or Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at an institution of higher education (original transcripts), or Have completed a registered apprenticeship program (certificate); Foreign degrees accepted if evaluated by a NACES member company. Preferred Administrative support experience within a public school district KNOWLEDGE (position Requirements At Entry) Demonstrates an understanding of privacy requirements for student data Possesses knowledge of required computer applications and programs for the position SKILLS (position Requirements At Entry) Effective oral and written communications Organize and complete tasks; observe confidentiality Relate to students of different cultures Maintain effective relations with students, staff and the public Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises. Conditions Of Employment AISP pay range 3 $28.76 to $30.71 (starting rate is $28.76 per hour) 8:30am to 2:00pm M-F 7:30am to 4:00pm 40 hours per week, for a 192-day assignment. Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life-insurance eligibility is based upon 630 hours worked within a school year. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
