Clean Room Production Technician

The Clean Room Production Technician works in a regulated, analytical production environment to fill, seal, label, and package chemical products, following strict Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) procedures. This role sets up and operates basic dispensing machinery, maintains accurate inventory records, and performs detailed work in a clean room while fully gowned. The position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, good hand dexterity, and experience in a manufacturing or medical assembly setting.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate basic machinery to dispense chemical products into bottles according to established handling specifications.
• Fill bottles with chemical reagents, ensuring accurate volumes and adherence to all work instructions and quality standards.
• Seal bottles and other containers securely, following documented procedures to maintain product integrity.
• Label bottles and packages accurately, verifying product information and lot details before final packaging.
• Package finished products according to GMP and internal guidelines, preparing them for storage or shipment.
• Physically transfer finished goods to inventory locations and maintain orderly storage of products.
• Follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures for each product and process step.
• Enter production and inventory data into computer systems, including basic use of Word, Excel, and email.
• Perform basic math at a high school level to calculate quantities, verify counts, and confirm measurements.
• Work in a clean room environment while fully gowned, maintaining cleanliness and contamination control standards.
• Use hand dexterity and fine motor skills to handle small components and assemblies as needed.
• Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally throughout the day when moving materials, products, or supplies.
• Inspect products visually to ensure quality, correct labeling, and compliance with specifications.
• Follow GMP practices and strict process controls in all aspects of production and documentation.
• Cross-train in multiple areas of the assembly and production process to support overall throughput and flexibility.
• Collaborate with a small team of production colleagues to meet daily output and quality targets.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the use of safety glasses, surgical gloves, and lab coats.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and support continuous improvement in production and handling processes.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment performing hands-on labor.
• Previous exposure to medical assembly or medical device production is highly relevant and beneficial.
• Ability to perform basic math at a high school level for counting, measuring, and verifying quantities.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds intermittently throughout the workday.
• Basic computer skills, including use of Word, Excel, and email for data entry and communication.
• Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset for labeling, packaging, and documentation.
• Comfort working in a clean room setting while fully gowned and following contamination control procedures.
• Good hand dexterity for precise handling, packaging, and assembly tasks.
• Ability to follow written work instructions and GMP-compliant procedures accurately and consistently.
• Strong English communication skills for reading instructions, documenting work, and coordinating with the team.
• Willingness and ability to cross-train in multiple production and assembly areas.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working under GMP guidelines in a mid-size or larger manufacturing company.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems for inventory or production data.
• Background in clean room operations, including gowning procedures and contamination control.
• Experience with inventory handling and tracking in a production or warehouse environment.
• Exposure to microscope work or medical device assembly processes.
• Ability to adapt to strict but straightforward processes in an analytical production setting.

Work Environment

The work takes place in a regulated production facility that develops and manufactures reagents for in vitro diagnostic applications, including infectious disease, hepatitis, endocrinology, bone and mineral metabolism, cancer, brain injury, cardiac markers, therapeutic drug monitoring, and autoimmunity. You work closely with a team of approximately 56 individuals in an analytical production environment that follows strict GMP practices rather than traditional high-volume manufacturing. Part of the day is spent in a clean room, typically about half a day at a time, where you fully gown from head to toe and wear safety glasses, surgical gloves, and a lab coat. The role involves routine use of basic machinery for dispensing and sealing, computer systems for data entry, and standard production tools and equipment. The setting emphasizes cleanliness, safety, precise handling, and adherence to documented procedures, providing a structured and professional atmosphere.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Stillwater, MN.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
