Job Title: RN - ICU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Vent/Trach management - Tube/drain management - Chest tubes - Invasive line management (arterial line, central venous pressure) - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Surgical recovery - Medication titration (sedation, pressors, cardiac, pain, paralytics) - EPIC experience Description: This position is for a registered nurse in an intensive care unit. The facility is a Level II Trauma Center with 91 beds. The ICU has 14 beds and provides care for critically ill patients. Patient diagnoses include sepsis, pneumonia, COVID, COPD, respiratory failure, kidney failure, liver failure, gastrointestinal bleeds, and diabetic ketoacidosis. Cardiac conditions treated include congestive heart failure, myocardial infarctions, and post-cardiac catheterization care. Trauma patients include those with gunshot wounds, stabbings, and falls. Surgical patients may have gynecological and gastrointestinal issues. Neuro patients may include those with subdural hematomas, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, and TIA. The typical patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:1 to 1:3. In cases exceeding 2 patients, team nursing is implemented with experienced medical-surgical nurses. Long-term ventilated patients will be managed collaboratively between ICU and medical-surgical staff. Support within the department includes charge nurses, certified nursing assistants, and 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist services. The facility uses EPIC as the electronic medical record system. The position requires flexibility to float to other areas within the scope of practice as needed. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend with holiday expectations of one holiday per contract. Scheduling is completed in 6-week increments. Scrub color should be any solid professional color without graphics, logos, or designs.
