Director of Accounting

Our client is a rapidly growing, well-capitalized global leader in live entertainment and ticketing , with a significant and expanding presence in the U.S. The organization is in an aggressive growth phase driven by both organic expansion and acquisitions. The U.S. finance organization is currently in an exciting build-out phase , creating an opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader to help establish scalable processes, strengthen controls, and build the infrastructure needed to support the company's continued growth. The Opportunity The Director of Accounting will take ownership of the U.S. accounting function and oversee the full accounting cycle from AP through Controllership . This is a highly visible role for someone who enjoys entering an organization, understanding the current processes, identifying inefficiencies, and building a more sophisticated accounting infrastructure. A major priority will be accelerating the monthly close from the current 5–7 days to a 2–3 day close . The ideal candidate will be both technically strong and operationally minded, with a track record of identifying bottlenecks, improving processes, and implementing automation. This person will also play an important role in the company's ERP transition, M&A activity, international reporting, and development of accounting policies and controls. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of approximately four accounting professionals, overseeing the complete accounting function from AP through Controllership. Own the monthly close calendar and drive process redesign, automation, and bottleneck elimination to reduce the close cycle from 5–7 days to a target of 2–3 days. Oversee the full accounting cycle, including AP, AR, GL, reconciliations, journal entries, revenue, and financial reporting. Book and oversee revenue entries within a complex and highly fragmented revenue environment. Partner with client accounting teams on royalty-adjacent and payment-related activities that intersect with revenue. Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls appropriate for a growing, acquisition-oriented organization. Serve as the accounting lead and key stakeholder in the transition from NetSuite to Microsoft Business Central , supporting systems decisions and process design. Partner with senior finance leadership on M&A initiatives, including purchase price accounting, goodwill impairment analysis, and integration of acquired entities. Coordinate with the European parent company on international reporting requirements, including IFRS and applicable U.S. GAAP conversion considerations. Drive automation and continuous improvement across a largely manual accounting environment. Build scalable accounting infrastructure to support significant growth in revenue, acquisitions, and capital investment. Must Haves CPA or a strong combination of public and private/corporate accounting experience. Candidates with only public accounting experience will not be considered. Corporate accounting experience within an entertainment or technology environment strongly preferred. Experience working within a complex, multi-entity organization. Proven ability to own the full accounting cycle from AP through close . Experience managing and developing an accounting team. Demonstrated success improving the monthly close process, including identifying bottlenecks and implementing process improvements that materially reduce close timelines. Strong technical accounting skills, including experience with revenue accounting . Ability to operate at both the detailed accounting level and the strategic/process-building level. Strong process orientation with the ability to build structure, policies, controls, and scalable infrastructure in a growing organization. Nice to Haves M&A experience, including purchase price accounting and goodwill impairment testing . International accounting and/or IFRS experience. NetSuite and/or Microsoft Business Central experience. Experience with client accounting, royalties, or royalty-adjacent functions.
