We are seeking a Senior Oracle SQL / PL/SQL Developer with extensive experience developing, tuning, and optimizing high-performance database applications in enterprise Oracle environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, indexing strategies, execution plans, database performance tuning, and data retrieval optimization.
The candidate must have a methodical approach to performance engineering, including the ability to establish performance baselines, analyze query execution metrics, identify bottlenecks, implement optimization strategies, and validate measurable performance improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain, and optimize Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and database objects.
Develop highly efficient and scalable SQL queries for enterprise-scale Oracle databases.
Analyze and rewrite complex or slow-performing SQL queries to reduce CPU, I/O, memory utilization, and execution time.
Perform comprehensive SQL query tuning and database performance optimization.
Establish performance baselines and benchmark query execution before and after optimization.
Use Oracle Explain Plan, TKPROF, SQL Trace, Autotrace, AWR, and ASH to diagnose and measure database performance.
Analyze execution plans and identify inefficient full table scans, index scans, joins, sorting, filtering, and data-access paths.
Design and optimize Oracle indexes, including B-tree, Bitmap, Function-Based, and covering indexes, based on application and query requirements.
Evaluate indexing strategies and data-access patterns to improve query response time and overall database performance.
Perform database provisioning and support database configuration activities as required.
Establish a structured, iterative tuning methodology by developing performance hypotheses, executing controlled tests, measuring results, and documenting improvements.
Identify database bottlenecks across SQL statements, stored procedures, indexes, data access, and application/database interactions.
Optimize complex joins, subqueries, aggregations, views, stored procedures, and other database operations.
Monitor application and database performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
Perform application performance tuning for applications built using .NET and C#, including database-related performance issues.
Troubleshoot and tune application performance within Citrix environments.
Collaborate with application developers, database administrators, infrastructure teams, and other technical stakeholders to resolve performance issues.
Analyze production performance problems and recommend sustainable solutions rather than short-term fixes.
Document tuning methodologies, baseline measurements, execution plans, root causes, optimization changes, and measurable performance improvements.
Develop database solutions that balance performance, scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
Work with Starburst and Trino SQL for distributed SQL query development, optimization, and data retrieval.
Analyze query performance across traditional Oracle environments and distributed query platforms such as Starburst/Trino.
Ensure database code follows established coding standards, performance guidelines, security requirements, and development best practices.
