Peer Support Specialist

Overview As a Certified Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in guiding individuals through their recovery journey by leveraging your core skills in mentoring, addiction counseling, and social work. Reporting to the program manager, you will provide support and encouragement while utilizing premium skills such as crisis intervention and mental health counseling to address challenges faced by clients. Responsibilities Establish and maintain supportive relationships with individuals in recovery. Share personal recovery experiences to inspire and empower clients. Assist individuals in developing personal recovery goals and action plans. Support clients in accessing community resources, services, and treatment options. Encourage self-advocacy and provide guidance in navigating healthcare and social services. Facilitate peer support groups, workshops, and recovery-oriented activities. Collaborate with clinical staff, case managers, and other professionals to support holistic care. Document interactions and progress while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards. Promote a culture of wellness, self-care, and resilience among peers. Advocate for policies and practices that support recovery-oriented care. Qualifications Certified Peer Support Specialist credential. Strong mentoring and addiction counseling skills. Proficiency in EHR systems for documentation and tracking. Experience in crisis intervention and management. Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques. Background in behavioral health and mental health counseling.
