Scheduling Director (Renewables Construction)

OverviewResponsible for all scheduling and planning functions within the Project Controls Department and a key contributor to the Company's strategic leadership team. The Director-Scheduling is responsible for scheduling leadership across all business units, including schedule development, analysis, maintenance, forecasting, performance reporting, and continuous improvement of the scheduling process. This position will also manage the scheduling staff, provide technical expertise, and ensure accurate and timely delivery of project schedule data to support operational decision-making.Location & Travel Details:This role can be remote or located in one of our corporate offices: Phoenix-AZ, Denver-CO, Fargo-ND, or Indianapolis-IN. This position will have up to 30% travel to regional office or site locations. With over 35,000 employees and 400 offices nationwide, we provide flexibility and career growth in dynamic work environments.ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Functions:Lead and supervise the scheduling team, providing clear expectations, direction, and performance managementAssign project schedules to appropriate scheduling personnel based on project needs and team capacityProvide leadership, training, and mentoring to scheduling staffFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementCollaborate with other Project Controls functions to ensure seamless integration of scheduling with cost, change, and forecast dataEstablish, maintain, and continuously improve standard scheduling processes, procedures, and templatesSupervise the preparation, maintenance, and review of baseline schedules, project forecasts, progress schedules, recovery plans, and acceleration/delay scenariosPerform schedule analysis and provide timely reporting of schedule performance to internal and external stakeholdersSupport project teams with schedule claims, change orders, and forensic schedule analysis as neededEnsure quality and accuracy of schedules prepared by project teamsDevelop, implement, and maintain standard scheduling tools and systems, including Primavera P6Continuously challenge existing processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness in scheduling practicesParticipate in business process improvement initiatives and recommend best practicesLead the preparation of schedule risk assessments and impact analysesProvide leadership with timely, accurate, and actionable schedule reports and forecastsWork closely with estimating, procurement, engineering, and construction teams to ensure schedule accuracy and alignmentConduct internal audits of scheduling processes and project schedulesDevelop and lead training programs for scheduling staff and project teamsEnsure compliance with corporate scheduling standards and proceduresEngage in strategic planning and business improvement initiatives across the Project Controls and Operations functionsServe as a trusted advisor to project management, operations leadership, and executive management regarding scheduling mattersOther duties as assignedQualificationsEducation and Work Experience Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or related major15+ years of experience in project management and/or project controlsFive+ years of supervisory experienceRenewable energy construction experience preferredPSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) and/or PMI-SP certification preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company’s Zero Injury principlesProficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office SuiteStrong understanding of earned value principles and schedule performance analysisAbility to prepare and present complex schedule data to project teams and executive leadershipExcellent communication, leadership, and client relationship skillsAbility to drive innovative scheduling solutions and process improvementsEffective mentor and coach for developing scheduling professionalsMust be capable of up to 25%-30% travel (e.g. 1 week or 5 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles, and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, and the employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing.
