Job Overview Come join our awesome team as a Registered Nurse (RN) with Valley Manor Care Center, part of Volunteers of America National Services, the Housing and Healthcare subsidiary of the Volunteers of America parent organization. Compensation & Hours Hourly Pay: $37.45 – $44.95 per hour based on prior experience, plus an additional $2.25 per hour for evening/night shift differential. Pay Periods & Shift Times: 72‑hour pay period: Thursday – Saturday, 7 am – 7 pm 80‑hour pay period: Thursday, Friday, Saturday 6 pm – 6 am and every other Sunday 10 pm – 6 am Benefits Medical, Dental and Vision insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Scholarships Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Life insurance (option to purchase additional coverage) Short‑term disability insurance Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process to plan and provide direct care to assigned residents Plan, direct, and carry out shift routines in the assigned nursing unit Observe, direct, and evaluate the activities of personnel as the person “in charge” in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act Assume Building Charge responsibilities as directed by the DON or designee Perform physical and cognitive assessments of residents Use computers and electronic devices for timekeeping, in‑service, and documentation tasks Apply knowledge of Antibiotic Stewardship, Infection Prevention/Control, and OSHA guidelines Provide leadership and direction to the assigned unit, STNAs, TMA’s, interdisciplinary team, and supervisory staff Listen to shift reports and maintain open communication with supervisors, co‑workers, and incoming shifts Conduct rounds to observe residents’ physical and psychosocial status Assign personnel appropriately to meet resident needs and ensure duties are performed Attend scheduled nurse and team meetings and participate as required Initiate disciplinary action when performance warrants it Report occupational exposures (needlesticks, blood, body fluids, hazardous chemicals) per policy Submit concerns and improvement suggestions to facility leadership and QAA/QAPI committee Ensure residents are treated with respect and dignity, reporting any suspected abuse or neglect Perform nursing techniques for residents’ comfort and well‑being Document all required records accurately and timely per facility policies Follow shift routines for vital signs, weight, medication administration, and treatments Make physician/provider calls to report resident condition changes Provide updates to Resident Representatives and families on resident conditions Comply with emergency protocols and 911 procedures Follow Advance Directives: DNR/DNI/CPR/Comfort Care protocols and orders Contribute to updating resident care plans Perform routine charting and documentation per established policies Transcribe physician/provider orders accurately and forward necessary information Document and report all incidents and accidents involving residents, visitors, and staff Chart nurses’ notes descriptively, reflecting care provided and resident response Utilize E-Interact COC & Care Paths for changes in condition Participate in staff performance evaluations and staff counseling recommendations Complete required in‑services and online modules Serve on and attend facility committees to enhance interdisciplinary processes Qualifications Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Colorado Experience in long‑term care preferred Good problem‑solving skills and ability to make independent judgments Customer‑service orientation with knowledge of successful techniques Clinical competence in nursing assessments of residents Proficiency with computers and electronic documentation systems Understanding of antibiotics stewardship, infection prevention/control, and OSHA requirements Technical or other training in nursing or better CPR/First Aid certification Equal Employment Opportunity Volunteer of America National Services is an equal‑opportunity employer and embraces diversity.
