Job Description
NICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled NICU Registered Nurse to join our team in a fast-paced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This position requires a commitment to delivering exceptional care to our neonatal patients.

Job Overview

The NICU Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to neonates, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and documentation. Nurses will assist with various procedures and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Shift Information

• Shifts are 12 hours, rotating between day and night.
• Every other weekend is required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to neonates, including assessment and formulation of care plans.
• Assist with medical procedures such as intubation, spinal taps, PICC line placement, and IV starts.
• Administer medications (oral and IV), monitor IVs, umbilical lines, CPAP, and nasal cannula.
• Perform neonatal assessments, manage G-tubes, and OG/NG feedings.
• Utilize various medical equipment, including conventional and high-frequency ventilators, nitric oxide, and Smart pumps.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience in a Level III facility.
• Active RN license in North Dakota and Compact RN License (willing to obtain).
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification is required.
• Able and willing to float to PICU and PEDS as needed.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system is highly preferred.

Additional Information

• The NICU unit accommodates up to 40 beds.
• Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:1 to 1:2 for critical and intermediate infants; 3:1 for stable infants.
• Training includes two days with a buddy to learn unit protocols and assess experience levels.
• All clinicians must badge in and out upon entering and exiting the facility.
• Scrub colors are child-friendly with role-specific designs.
