Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department float pool position in the Denver, CO Zone 3 area, requiring 2 years of ED experience and a CO or compact RN license. Details Float position covering Zone 3 emergency departments in the Denver area, including OrthoColorado Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, St. Anthony North Hospital, and 84th Ave Emergency Room No home base facility; travelers must float throughout the entire zone Acute care Emergency Department setting, majority STEMI and Stroke receiving facilities, Trauma Level 3 non-designated ED volumes vary by location, ranging from 40-168 patients per day Nurse to patient ratios of 1:4-5 based on acuity Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, DM, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and HTN RNs perform Point of Care lab testing and are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips (no monitor tech on unit) Techs support unit secretary duties, assist nurses, and assist with triage Charge nurse role available and takes patient assignments Respiratory Therapy available 24/7 Uses Epic EMR 12-hour evening and night shifts (1p-1a) Every other weekend required, or equivalent (6-9 shifts) within a 6-week scheduling period Every other holiday required No call or standby requirements Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance, with either single-facility weekly assignments or Just-In-Time facility assignment 1-2 hours before shift start 2-3 days of unit/department specific orientation Navy blue scrubs required Requirements Active CO state or Compact (NLC) RN license required, no pending licenses accepted Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC (all AHA where applicable) Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required Must reside at least 60 miles from the Denver city center (float zone hub) Driver's license copy required for consideration Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility Additional Information Responsibilities include providing emergency care across multiple facilities within the float zone, performing Point of Care lab testing, and independently interpreting telemetry strips Candidates must secure housing that allows them to feasibly float throughout the entire 60-mile Zone 3 area, regardless of personal housing location Interview process includes a candidate interview with the clinical team, with no unit manager involvement Clinicians should plan to be in-state for orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely Maximum of 3 missed shifts allowed during the 13-week contract Local candidates may be considered depending on rate structure These details are based on information provided by the facility and may include inaccuracies or be subject to updates.
