Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in Neuro ICU preferred License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 2 years of experience in Neuro ICU preferred - Strong ability to read and interpret EKG strips - Familiarity with ventilators - Experience with common neuro diagnoses and procedures Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Neuro ICU setting. The unit consists of 20 beds and supports a strong stroke program. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 to 2:1. Candidates are expected to handle common neuro diagnoses such as CVA, intracerebral hemorrhages, and post-operative neuro surgeries. Certifications required for this position include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. The role involves working with patients who may require ventilator support and the ability to perform line insertions. There is a weekend requirement, with shifts scheduled every other weekend. The nurse may float to sister facilities as needed. Self-scheduling is utilized, and schedules are published four weeks in advance. The work environment includes a collaborative team with hospitalists or intensivists available onsite. Additional support services such as respiratory therapy and pharmacy are available 24/7. The unit is equipped with a modern charting system. Be prepared to participate in holiday rotations with core staff. Scrub colors are navy, with specific requirements for undershirts. The candidate will provide direct patient care and may serve as a charge nurse but generally will not take patients during those times. Experience in a state-of-the-art neuro ICU is preferred for this role. A pass or fail exam is required prior to signing the contract. Additional training may take place on the floor with a preceptor. Maintaining flexibility and adaptability within the team is essential for this position.
