Medical Director

Job Title: Locum Medical Director Duration: Full-Time | 3-Month Contract (Extension Possible) Start Date: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Job Summary We are seeking a Locum Medical Director to lead and oversee medical services at a State Supported Living Center (SSLC). The Medical Director will provide clinical leadership while ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), including those with complex medical, psychiatric, and behavioral health needs. Key Responsibilities Direct and oversee all medical services, including primary care, psychiatric, dental, pharmacy, and laboratory services. Supervise Physicians, APRNs, Physician Assistants, Psychiatrists, Pharmacists, Dentists, and contracted medical staff. Provide direct patient care for an assigned caseload. Support complex medical cases and interdisciplinary treatment planning. Ensure compliance with Department of Justice (DOJ) Settlement Agreement, state regulations, and agency policies. Participate in leadership meetings, committees, and interdisciplinary care conferences. Develop and manage the physician on-call schedule and participate in shared on-call coverage. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve operational effectiveness. Support disaster response and Continuity of Operations (COOP) activities as needed. Required Qualifications MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Texas Medical License. Current DEA Registration. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Eligible to enroll as a Medicare Part B and Texas Medicaid provider. Experience treating individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and complex medical or behavioral health conditions preferred.
