Tax Partner

abip CPAs & Advisors is seeking an experienced Tax Partner to join our growing San Antonio office. This leadership role is ideal for a relationship-driven tax professional with strong technical expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional client service to privately held businesses and high-net-worth individuals. The ideal candidate will bring a strong public accounting background, progressive advancement within a tax practice, and the ability to contribute strategically to the continued growth of the Firm through client relationships, business development, and team leadership. Key Responsibilities Serve as a trusted advisor to business and individual clients on complex tax matters Manage and expand client relationships through proactive communication and strategic guidance Review and oversee complex tax returns including corporate, partnership, S-corporation, and individual returns Provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance services across a variety of industries Lead, mentor, and develop tax professionals across multiple levels Participate in Firm leadership initiatives, operational planning, and practice development Identify and pursue business development opportunities, including networking and referral generation Ensure engagement quality, profitability, and adherence to professional standards Stay current on federal, state, and local tax regulations and communicate implications to clients and internal teams Experience Requirements 12–20 years of progressive tax and public accounting experience Current or recent experience as a: Tax Partner Tax Director Tax Principal Senior Tax Manager ready for Partner-level advancement Experience within a mid-sized public accounting firm environment (regional firms, Top 100 firms, or similar) Demonstrated leadership within a tax practice, including staff development and client management Strong experience managing complex client relationships and serving as a primary advisor Proven business development and networking abilities Technical Qualifications Strong technical tax expertise across multiple entity structures, including: Corporate Partnership Individual Pass-through entities Experience with tax planning and consulting for privately held businesses and high-net-worth individuals Multi-state tax experience preferred Industry specialization experience is a plus, including: Real estate Manufacturing Healthcare Professional services Construction Required Qualifications Active CPA license required Extensive public accounting background required Partner/Director-level experience or readiness for Partner promotion Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills Preferred Qualifications Master’s in taxation or LLM in Taxation Additional credentials such as JD or CFP Existing book of business or demonstrated business development success Existing Texas market relationships or familiarity with the Texas business landscape What Success Looks Like Builds long-term trusted client relationships Serves as a mentor and leader within the tax practice Contributes to Firm growth through business development and retention Brings a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to leadership Supports and strengthens abip’s culture and core values #J-18808-Ljbffr Abipcpa
