Primary Care Physician

Oregon State Hospital (OSH), a division of the Oregon Health Authority, is seeking dedicated and compassionate Primary Care Physicians to join our multidisciplinary team.

As OSH’s Primary Care Physician, you will provide non‑psychiatric medical evaluation and treatment for adults with severe mental illness in an inpatient forensic psychiatric setting. You will work in collaboration with psychiatric attending providers, who maintain primary responsibility for the overall plan of care. You will serve as a medical consultant to the interdisciplinary treatment team, addressing acute and chronic medical conditions, supporting coordinated care, and contributing to integrated, whole-person treatment planning.

With robust on‑site medical services, including cardiology with echocardiogram and EEG, podiatry, speech and language pathology, physical and occupational therapy, dentistry, and optometry, OSH ensures comprehensive care and partners with community hospitals for additional specialties. What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

These qualifications must be reflected in your application for consideration.

• Board certification/board eligible in family medicine or internal medicine.
• Satisfactory completion of a residency program in family medicine or internal medicine in the United States or Canada.
• Physician’s license issued by the Oregon Medical Board.

Note: Some positions may allow for certifications/licenses at time of appointment rather than at time of application.

• Demonstrated experience providing primary medical care to patients with complex mental health needs in partnership with attending psychiatrists on interdisciplinary treatment teams.
• Demonstrated experience managing time effectively, working independently, and meeting established timelines and deadlines.
• Experience working effectively in a high-acuity, unpredictable environment, while remaining calm and organized, and creating clarity and continuity of care.
• Experience providing general medicine phone consultations to physicians and staff.
• Experience representing a clinical role in public-facing and organizational settings, including participation on committees, workgroups, or cross-functional initiatives within a public or institutional environment.
