Position Overview The Associate Pastor partners with the Lead Pastor to shepherd and equip our church family, with a focus on clear, Gospel-centered teaching and a vibrant, safe children’s ministry (birth through 6th grade). This full-time role combines preaching, pastoral care, administrative leadership, and the development of creative, Christ-centered programming for children and families. Spiritual Qualifications Meets the Biblical qualifications of a Pastor (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1:6-9) A humble, godly man with integrity and a strong sense of calling Growing and maturing in Christ, faithful in discipleship Passionately desires to glorify God and equip the body of Christ Key Responsibilities Preaching & Teaching Prepare to preach and teach Gospel-centered sermons and lessons. Pastoral Care & Leadership Assist the Lead Pastor in shepherding, counseling, and discipling members Support administrative duties and select church projects (mission trips / conferences) Children’s Ministry Leadership Oversee age-appropriate Bible lessons for infants - 6th grade on Sundays and mid-week Cultivate a safe, loving environment where children grow in their relationship with Christ Provide pastoral care for children and their families Program & Event Development Organize, lead & implement a lively, Bible focused children’s church service Select and implement curriculum that fosters spiritual growth Organize monthly family-focused activities: Family movie nights Game and craft nights Mini service projects Plan creative, annual outreach events, ie: Fall Festival Summer Kids Camp Back-to-School Bash Annual Children’s Christmas Program (casting, music, costumes, sets, promotion) Safety & Check-In System Oversee a secure digital check-in/check-out process with badge printing & matching tags Enforce volunteer background checks and pickup protocols Volunteer Management Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers and youth helpers Schedule and rotate classroom leaders quarterly Family Engagement Communicate regularly with parents via meetings and networking Administrative Oversight Manage ministry budget, ordering supplies, and scheduling Staff Collaboration Participate in strategic planning for church family ministry Key Factors for Consideration Proficiency in teaching Humble character and teachable spirit Friendly, charismatic and approachable disposition Strong organizational and planning skills Team player, open to mentoring by the Lead Pastor Clean personal appearance and punctuality Qualifications and Skills Requirement Education - Bachelor’s degree (preferred but NOT required) Experience -1+ years in children’s ministry Skills - Creative programming, team leadership, effective communication traits, Humble, Patient, Joyful, Visionary, Christ-centered, Technology - Familiarity with media & planning tools and willingness to learn digital check-in systems #J-18808-Ljbffr Sand Springs Baptist Church)
