Lead Electrical Engineer – Data Centre | Germany A lot of lead roles claim responsibility. This one actually has it — because on a data centre, electrical engineering isn’t a package you manage, it’s a system you’re accountable for. There’s no safety net here. No “we’ll tidy that up in commissioning.” Either the system works exactly as intended — or it doesn’t go live. If you like clarity, ownership, and being the person who sees issues before they become problems, you’ll fit well here. We’re hiring a Lead Electrical Engineer to take full ownership of the electrical delivery lifecycle — from design scrutiny through to energisation, commissioning, and handover — ensuring nothing is left to chance. What you’ll actually do Not the brochure version — the work that matters: Lead electrical engineering delivery across the project lifecycle Challenge designs — not just review them — identifying gaps, clashes, and risks early Make final calls on technical decisions when required Ensure cable sizing, protection strategies, and system design align with real-world performance (not just calculations) Drive submittals to approval without drift — setting expectations and following through Oversee procurement strategy and ensure equipment is technically compliant and arrives when it should Keep supply chain fully aligned with programme milestones Work closely with BIM to ensure designs translate into buildable, installable systems Coordinate across disciplines so systems integrate properly — not just individually work Lead electrical walk-downs and quality inspections Own test packs, ITPs, FTOPs, and handover documentation — ensuring they’re right, not rushed Lead commissioning strategy and execution alongside vendors and specialists Manage vendor performance — holding them to standard Act as the escalation point for electrical issues on site Support and lead client interface, including technical reviews and training This is engineering that ends in a live, fully functioning facility — not a set of drawings. Who you’ll work with You’ll report to the Project Manager or Project Director , and act as the electrical authority across: Electrical engineers and site teams BIM and digital engineering Supply chain and subcontractors Specialist vendors (switchgear, UPS, generators, etc.) Design consultants Client technical teams In reality: you’re the person connecting all of it, making sure it works together. What you’ll need Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) Strong experience on major projects — data centre experience highly preferred Proven track record leading electrical delivery, not just contributing to it Deep understanding of: Power distribution systems Critical systems (UPS, generators, redundancy philosophy) Installation, QA and commissioning processes Ability to manage multiple technical and programme threads at once Comfortable making decisions under pressure — without compromising standards High attention to detail — because details are where failures start Who this role suits Spots problems before they appear on a snag list Challenges designs constructively — and confidently Leads from the front without needing constant direction Communicates clearly across technical and non-technical teams Values structure, process, and accountability Takes pride in systems performing exactly as designed Why this matters In a data centre, electrical systems aren’t just important — they’re mission critical.
