I love my job with Shared Medical Services. To say anything less would be an understatement. I am a CT Technologist who was fortunate enough to become employed by SMS in September of 2024. I decided to apply for SMS after an SMS MRI Technologist told me about a new CT position becoming available. I had no idea there were such things as mobile CT. It turns out there are A LOT more things than mobile CT in the mobile world. I had no idea how big mobile imaging is becoming. I worked for two big corporate healthcare organizations over my 20 plus years as a technologist…..17 years in a hospital and 4 in clinical setting. I have NEVER worked for a company like SMS before. The experience so far in my employment with SMS is unlike anything I have ever been a part of. They provide a very strong, reliable, and independent working environment. It’s possible that being employee owned makes them extra special in a healthcare world, that’s anything but this. The equipment is all new! The mobile fleet in SMS has newer equipment than most hospitals and clinics around. I have never seen so much new equipment in my whole career as I have since joining SMS. It’s a treat and a pleasure to work for them. They are determined, they work hard, they take pride in what they do, and it amplifies from the top down. Technologist, Shared Medical Services I Feel Very Lucky and Blessed": Jim's 20 Years as an Employee-Owner For more than 20 years, Jim Tiefenthaler crisscrossed an eight-state territory as a Quick Responder Driver for Shared Medical Services. From behind the wheel, he had a front‑row seat to the company’s growth. And because Shared Medical Services is 100% employee‑owned, that growth was his, too. Jim was hired full‑time on January 16, 2004. The SMS Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) began in 2012, making Jim an owner from its very inception. When Jim moved to part‑time in 2018 at age 62, his ESOP balance stood at $33,940. From that point forward, he received only the annual 401(k) company match in ESOP shares. But the share price kept rising, so by the time he retired at age 70, his balance had grown to $158,465, more than four times what it was seven years earlier. That money is now helping fund his retirement and his travel plans. But when asked what he’s most proud of, it isn’t the $158,465. “I am very proud of the emphasis put on patient care and safety by myself, other employees, and SMS.”His parting words say it all: “It was an amazing experience working alongside some of the most professional and courteous people I have had the pleasure to know. Position Overview: We are seeking a PET/CT Technologist to join our growing team. Unlike typical travel roles, this position offers a unique opportunity to work on a state‑of‑the‑art mobile scanner while serving local and diverse communities. This role provides flexibility of different environments while being a part of a stable, full‑time, employee‑centric organization. You’ll have the opportunity to build lasting relationships with various healthcare facilities and become a key member of our Shared Medical Services ONETEAM. Anticipated Schedule: 3 days per week on a rotating schedule Paid lodging for any possible overnights Responsibilities: Competently perform imaging procedures, including administering contrast agents and radiopharmaceuticals Perform equipment quality check and adhere to quality assurance guidelines Maintain compassionate patient care, comfort and safety, while ensuring patient confidentiality Qualifications: Graduate of a Nuclear Medicine Technology program or soon to be graduate from a Nuclear Medicine Program Registered/registry eligible: NMTCB-CNMT or ARRT(N) Ability to receive permit to practice(s) as necessary Ability to produce quality special imaging with little supervision Successfully pass a pre‑employment (post offer) background check, urine drug screen and physical Competitive pay with annual wage reviews Travel Perks - paid drive time and mileage and more depending on position 401k with a 4% company match Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) – Become something bigger than yourself.
