By joining our team, you will share in the joy of providing care with dignity and life with hope./ppThe Senior Direct Support Professional supports the mission of Catholic Charities of Long Island by assisting the Residence Manager in ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents and implementation of their Individual Service Plans (ISP)./ppResponsibilities:/pulliServing as staff mentor for aspects of new staff orientation/liliMonitoring safety well-being of residents, ensuring residents are always treated with dignity. Complying with OSHA regulations and universal precautions./liliPlanning and providing social recreational activities for residents/liliMaintaining and applying current complete knowledge of emergency procedures in event of a crisis, e.g., fire safety/liliPreparing all required documentation prior to end of shift, reporting all issues/concerns to Residence Manager/liliAdministering and/or supervising residents intake of medication as prescribed in accordance with OPWDD-approved Medications Administration Procedure (AMAP)/liliProviding individual resident instruction and/or assistance with daily living skills and rehabilitation or social skills in accordance with ISP. Encourages and rewards achievement of residents goals./liliTransporting and/or accompanying residents to various activities, appointments, events, or other destinations as needed in the house van./liliHandling telephone calls and inquiries and providing necessary follow-up as directed by Residence Manager./liliPerforming all essential functions of the Direct Support Professional role, as directed or needed/li/ulpQualifications:/pulliHigh School diploma/GED/liliPrevious experience working with developmentally disabled adults is strongly preferred./liliClean, valid NYS Drivers License/liliAbility to transfer and assist in 2-person lift of persons weighing as much as 250 lbs./liliAbility to transfer persons weighing as much as 250 pounds in and out of bed to a wheelchair, from a wheelchair to toilet or mat, or from a mat to a wheelchair./liliAbility to propel consumer in wheelchair safely./liliCapable of stooping and crouching to lift./liliAbility to protect self, in a non-aggressive manner, during physical or emotional outburst of a resident./liliAbility to maintain current certifications, up-to-date knowledge of regulatory compliance, agency policies, protocols evolving operational practices, and attendance at all required in-service trainings/liliA desire to provide/facilitate person-centered care to all residents;/liliStrong interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively effectively with individuals, Residential Managers, fellow team members, families and community members./li/ulpSchedule: 40 hours per week, 2:00p - 10:00p, Sun-Thurs./ppRate of pay: $22.00/hr. (plus weekend differential)/ppThis rate of pay serves as a good faith estimate. Actual pay is based on a number of factors which may include a candidates qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and work location.
