New Graduate RN Residency, Cardiac/ Medical IMCU (Sept 2026)

Overview The New Graduate Nurse Residency Program at BMC assists newly licensed nurses in the transition to practice. The program reduces turnover and improves critical thinking and clinical decision‑making, impacting patient outcomes and nurse satisfaction. This residency is a 4-month training that leads to placement on a Step Down unit (36 hours, night shifts, rotating weekends), with an expected start date in September 2026. Program Details New graduates are hired into BMC in cohorts and receive comprehensive training that incorporates the Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies. After training, RNs assume a position on a Step Down unit. Units request a two-year commitment after investing in the new graduate RN. Eligibility & Requirements Nurses who have graduated from nursing school within the twelve (12) months before the date of hire. Active BLS/CPR for Healthcare Providers certification. Flu vaccine required prior to start. Registration and current RN licensure in the state of MA in good standing preferred prior to start date. Registered Nurse is accountable for clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient care outcomes following established agency policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of practice, reporting to the Unit Nurse Director. Responsibilities The role encompasses nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and their families across the health care continuum. The registered nurse is accountable for clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient care outcomes using the model of care designed by the nursing department and following established agency policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of practice. Compensation & Benefits Compensation range: $38.05 - $75.33 per hour.
