A long-established Tulsa manufacturer, 60+ years in business, privately held, roughly 150 employees, building heavy-duty hydraulic equipment and specialty products for the energy and pipeline construction industry. Products range from standard catalog items to fully custom, engineer-to-order machines. Stable, low-turnover shop with a national and international customer base. The Role You'll own the quoting process from RFQ to submitted proposal. Working closely with engineering, purchasing, and the shop floor, you'll build accurate cost estimates for both repeat products and one-off custom builds, then help protect margin as jobs move into production. What You'll Do Review customer RFQs, drawings, and specifications to define scope and identify gaps before quoting Perform material takeoffs and develop bills of material for fabricated, machined, and hydraulic assemblies Estimate labor hours across welding, machining, assembly, and finishing operations Source pricing from vendors on steel, hydraulic components, castings, and outside services Build complete cost models including material, labor, overhead, freight, and margin Prepare and submit formal quotes and proposals; track win/loss and follow up with sales Compare estimated vs. actual costs on completed jobs and feed the findings back into future estimates Maintain and improve cost databases, labor standards, and estimating templates Partner with engineering on design-for-cost decisions and value engineering opportunities What We’re Looking For Estimating experience in a manufacturing, metal fabrication, or heavy equipment environment Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, weldments, and GD&T Working knowledge of fabrication and machining processes, cutting, forming, welding, CNC machining, assembly Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor, Global Shop, JobBOSS, Infor, or similar) Comfortable chasing down information from engineers, buyers, and shop supervisors to get an estimate right Detail-oriented with the discipline to hit quote deadlines without cutting corners Nice to Have Exposure to hydraulic systems, winches, cranes, lifting equipment, or pipeline construction products (willing to train junior estimators) Familiarity with custom / engineer-to-order and low-volume, high-mix production Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools Background in the oil & gas, pipeline, or heavy construction equipment sectors $55,000-$80,000 annually, depending on experience #J-18808-Ljbffr BlueWorx Staffing
