Global Creative Director

Gibson

As the Global Creative Director for one of the world's most iconic American brands, you will transform the brand's creative vision into impactful and innovative strategies leading the evolution of Gibson guitars and its prestigious family of brands worldwide. The primary objective is to honor a legendary legacy while evolving the brand's visual and creative identity, delivering relevant ground-breaking brand identity that captivates and inspires the next generation of fans.


The Global Creative Director will partner with senior leadership in developing compelling narratives that will captivate musicians, guitar lovers, creators and music lovers to bring a bold brand innovative outlook. You will lead Gibson's creative direction ensuring that the Gibson name continues to inspire and drive music culture. Essential Functions

  1. Champion and steward of Gibson's Creative Brand Vision: Define Gibson's global creative and marketing narrative direction, ensuring every campaign, story, and design resonates with the spirit of Gibson - innovation, craftsmanship, and a deep connection to music culture.
  1. Creative Leadership: Lead and inspire a diverse team of designers, art directors, copywriters, and creative specialists. Foster a culture of bold creativity where the team feels empowered to push boundaries and bring the Gibson brand to life in fresh, innovative ways.
  2. Elevating the Gibson Brand Portfolio: Oversee the creative execution of all global campaigns across digital, print, retail, and experiential channels. From iconic product launches to immersive experiences, you'll ensure the Gibson name remains synonymous with quality, authenticity, and musical artistry.
  3. Creative Visualization of Strategic Brand Development: Collaborate across departments to drive the development of Gibson's creative brand strategy, ensuring consistency in brand voice, positioning, and visual identity across all markets. You will be responsible for elevating the brand's global presence while staying true to its heritage.
  4. Crafting Stories That Resonate: Lead the creation of powerful narratives that celebrate the artistry, passion, and innovation behind Gibson's legendary guitars. Whether through digital content, video storytelling, or in-store experiences, you will craft moments that inspire musicians to pick up a Gibson and create their own legacy.
  5. Innovation Meets Tradition: Push creative boundaries by integrating new trends, technologies, and cultural insights into the brand's DNA. From leveraging cutting-edge digital tools to exploring new mediums, you'll ensure Gibson stays at the forefront of the cultural conversation while honoring its rich history.
  6. Multi-Brand Management: Oversee creative direction for Gibson's entire portfolio, including Epiphone, Kramer, and other brands under the Gibson umbrella. Maintain each brand's unique identity while ensuring there's a cohesive creative thread that ties them all back to Gibson's legacy of craftsmanship and innovation.
  7. Retail & eCommerce Brilliance: Work closely with product, eCommerce, and retail teams to create immersive brand experiences in physical stores, online, and at global events. Ensure Gibson's presence is as iconic in the digital world as it is in the hands of musicians around the globe.
  8. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product designers, engineers, and marketers to create campaigns that are as deeply rooted in product quality as they are in brand storytelling. Your creative leadership will ensure that every guitar, accessory, and promotion is launched with fanfare and authenticity.
  9. Creative Performance Insight: Partner with analytics and insights teams to measure the impact of creative campaigns, using data to continually refine and optimize brand initiatives. You'll balance artistic vision with business outcomes, ensuring Gibson's creative work drives brand loyalty and growth.
  10. Budget Management & Resource Allocation: Oversee and manage the creative budget across all content creation, agency partnerships, freelance talent, and in-house resources. Ensure efficient allocation of funds while maintaining the highest level of creative output, balancing innovation with cost-effectiveness, and optimizing expenditures to maximize impact across all global channels and campaigns.

  5. Craft and Precision: A deep respect for craftsmanship. You understand that Gibson's legacy is rooted in quality, and you bring the same level of craftsmanship to the creative work you lead.
  6. Forward-Thinking Innovator: An ability to integrate modern technologies and trends into Gibson's brand storytelling. From digital experiences to AI-driven content, you will bring Gibson into the future without compromising its heritage.
  7. Entrepreneurial Mindset: You are always looking for ways to elevate the brand, thinking creatively about how to grow and evolve the business while staying true to its core identity.
  8. Collaboration Expert: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally. You're comfortable collaborating with product designers, marketers, engineers, and leadership to align creative outputs with business goals.
  9. Data-Informed Creativity: You understand the balance between creativity and strategy, using insights and performance data to refine and optimize campaigns without sacrificing artistic vision.
  10. Portfolio of Iconic Work: A portfolio that showcases bold, culturally relevant, and impactful creative work. Experience in industries like music, fashion, or lifestyle brands is a plus, but your work and passion for Gibson's heritage will set you apart.
Required Education and Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, design, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, MFA) is a plus, but your portfolio speaks louder than any diploma.
  2. 10+ years of experience in senior creative leadership roles, preferably in a global brand or top-tier creative agency with experience in music, lifestyle, or culturally iconic brands.
  3. A proven track record of developing and executing iconic campaigns that balance brand-building with business outcomes.
  4. Experience leading global creative teams and overseeing complex, multi-channel creative projects.
  5. An impressive portfolio that demonstrates your ability to bring visionary ideas to life through storytelling, design, and strategy.
Essential Knowledge
  1. Expertise in brand strategy, brand development, and storytelling that drives emotional connection with audiences.
  2. Deep understanding of global marketing, digital and traditional channels, and emerging media trends.
  3. Knowledge of consumer behavior in the music and lifestyle spaces, with the ability to create campaigns that resonate with both seasoned musicians and new guitar enthusiasts.
