Data Scientist II

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Data Scientist II in Mountain View, CA.

We are looking for creative problem solvers with a passion for tackling tough customer problems involving data to serve as a Knowledge Enablement Engineer, evaluating, piloting, and then scaling the capability that makes our data findable, trustworthy, and usable - by people and by AI agents. Our Data Science team is building the knowledge layer between our data and the people and agents who use it: metric definitions, semantics, dictionaries, and the surfaces that make them discoverable. The role calls for a proactive, end-to-end contributor who can evaluate existing capabilities, stand up a working pilot rather than an assessment, and carry a clear recommendation into adoption.

Responsibilities:
* Evaluate existing tools and platforms across semantics, context, and knowledge graphs, and assess our requirements against them
* Pilot the strongest option, determine how our existing semantic layer feeds into it, and deliver a working pilot with a clear recommendation
* Onboard domains onto the approach we adopt, expanding content coverage as you go
* Support alignment sessions so definitions are agreed before they are codified, and create playbooks so each domain onboards faster than the last
* Author the AI rules, skills, and files that make the layer usable by people and agents, integrating through code or configuration as needed

REQUIREMENTS:
* Experience building with modern AI tooling; transferable experience matters more than any specific vendor
* Demonstrated depth building semantic layers, knowledge graphs, retrieval systems, or agent tooling; Relevant depth matters more than years, and strong graduate work counts
* A proactive, end-to-end approach, and comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy
* SQL and Python sufficient to work on a data science team; SQL forms part of the content itself
* Strong cross-team partnerships, including outside your own organization

Preferred
* Experience with semantic layers or specifications such as MetricFlow or Open Semantic Interchange
* Experience with MCP servers, agent orchestration, or retrieval systems
* Experience driving adoption of a platform capability across multiple teams
* Working Git proficiency

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
