Hendrix College is seeking multiple part-time, support staff Lifeguards. Reporting to the Director of Aquatics, the Lifeguard is responsible for guarding lives and ensuring the safety of the patrons using the pool. Provide excellent customer service to members and guests using a friendly, professional demeanor. Have a full understanding of pool rules, guidelines and policies and enforce them strictly and equally for all patrons.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lock and unlock aquatic center doors performing opening and closing protocol.
• Adjust roof and patio doors according to the weather.
• Responsible for opening safe and counting & recording the money in the money bag.
• Responsible for vacuuming out pool and cleaning bags.
• Ensure that guests without membership have signed a waiver.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

• Must be at least 17 years old.
• Must be able to perform the following: swim 300 yards continuously using the breast or front crawl; tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds, starting in the water, swim 20 yards; surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object; return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point; exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
• Must be Red Cross Lifeguard Certified.
• Must have CPR/AED certification.

Education:

• Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
• CPR/AED certification.

Experience:

• Six months experience preferred but not required.

Skills:

• Leadership skills.

• Problem solving.
• Endurance.
• Saving a person's life with rescue equipment.
• Saving a person's life without rescue equipment.
