Entry Level Adult Caregiver

Overview All’s Well Healthcare has partnered with the State of California’s Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to launch a statewide, paid 3-month shadow training program. This initiative matches candidates with organizations that support adults with special needs. Participants shadow staff to gain firsthand experience, and if there's a mutual fit, they may be offered permanent employment—sometimes as early as week three, mimicking a "working interview". Direct Service Professional (DSP) Intern You’ll work under the supervision of an experienced DSP mentor for up to three months and 30 hours per week. This internship provides hands‑on experience of shadow training and learning how to support individuals with diverse developmental or intellectual needs in living more independent and fulfilling lives. Responsibilities Help individuals feel empowered and respected. Support communication and social interaction. Assist with daily living skills such as cooking, hygiene, and transportation. Encourage and support participation in community activities. Facilitate access to services and resources. Support education, job readiness, and career goals. Promote health and wellness. Advocate for individual rights and inclusion. Help build and maintain meaningful relationships. Document services and progress. Ensure the person remains at the center of all decision‑making. Compensation & Schedule Pay: $18.42-$20 per hour, weekly pay plus incentives. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4 PM. Program Perks Weekly pay. Employment retention payments at six and twelve months. Potential long‑term career path. Qualifications Must be 18 years or older. Must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) or a certificate of completion. Must have a valid identification card or driver’s license. Must pass a background check and other required health screenings. Physical Requirements A DSP Intern may work indoors or outdoors and may perform tasks involving frequent sitting, standing, writing, or repetitive motions. Tasks may also involve bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, standing, reaching, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
