We develop complex, radiation effects mitigated, designs that balance competing requirements in modern space programs, delivering cutting-edge solutions that enable our customers to achieve more in space.The Quality Inspector performs validation activities to verify materials and shipments are compliant to Space-Flight Quality standards. Duties typically include In-process and Final inspections on product in Receiving, Manufacturing, or Integration and Test and perform product build documentation review and end-item data package review.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed inspections on both Electrical and Mechanical components at the piece part level as well as the assembly and sub-assembly level.Uphold quality standards and workmanship practices in assigned work centers by learning/practicing process specifications and employing quality workmanship standards during everyday job functions.Assist in developing training material for the QA group.Generate nonconformance reports for discrepancies discovered during inspection processes.Perform audits of work areas to ensure compliance with Trident ISO 9001/AS 9100 procedures and Lean Manufacturing Principles.Perform in-depth reviews of product build documentation for configuration audit to determine if as-built meets as-designed.Act as safety representative during critical and hazardous operations.Perform in-process and final inspections on circuit card assemblies under magnification in accordance with NASA 8739 or IPC workmanship standardsPerform inspections on box level assemblies and support environmental testing activitiesConfirm acceptable quality standards and workmanship practices are being utilized in assigned work centersPractically apply process specifications and use applicable workmanship standards during everyday job functionsPerform in-process and final inspections on cable/wire harnesses, to include a review of the associated product build documentation.Develop training material for assigned QA group.Train and mentor new hires or less-experienced personnel in at least one skill identified on the PA skills matrix for assigned area of work.Review nonconformities and provide feedback to authors on coding selections, defect descriptions, and other key attributes of NCR's. When needed, provide insights for review boards (PMRB, MRB, or FRB) to help with disposition or RCCA.Perform other duties as assigned.Working ConditionsESD production environment. Some exposure to machine noise; hearing protection may be required.Must have availability to work 1st or 2nd shifts as scheduled.Overtime may be required to fulfill needs.Primarily located in Chantilly with flexibility to occasionally work in Fairfax.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent and 6+ years of experience in manufacturing or inspection fields of electronic components or assembliesAbility to read engineering documentation and inspect to drawings and parts lists, inspection plans, and supplemental instructionsAbility to use Microsoft applications and ability to learn new computer programs/applications easilyWillingness to work off shift activities with occasional overtime, weekend, and Holiday support as required.Fluent in use of Microsoft applications and ability to learn new computer programs/applications.Technical writing experienceExperience inspecting to either NASA 8739 series or IPC/J-STD-001 for circuit card assemblies, or equivalentHave held workmanship certifications at previous employment locations for manufacturing standards (e.g., IPC-A-620, NASA 8739 series, etc.)Advanced knowledge of both SMT and through-hole parts and ability to discern acceptability criteria of both part typesPersonal initiative to become engaged in assigned work area without needing to be constantly coached or led to next assignmentPrevious experience working in ISO/AS9100-certified company and using Process Specifications or Military Standards to inform inspection or work activities.Pay InformationFull-Time Pay Range: $21.60/hour - $36.00/hourPlease Note: Actual compensation offered will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, internal equity, business considerations, and geographic location where applicable.Trident Systems reserves the right to change or assign other duties to this position.Trident Solutions is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
