Pay Range: $90,000 – $105,000 / year (Bonus Eligible)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Graveyard Shift Manager to oversee nighttime plant operations at our San Jose facility. In this role, you will lead shift personnel, enforce site safety protocols, and optimize end-to-end rubber manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate brings technical expertise in rubber processing and continuous process improvement, along with the ability to conduct operational directives and safety briefings in both English and Spanish.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Direct 3rd-shift production activities to maintain target efficiency levels, minimize equipment downtime, and meet delivery schedules across all production stages (mixing, extrusion, molding, curing, and finishing).
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce site Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, OSHA regulations, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Lead workplace incident investigations and implement corrective action plans.
  • Team Communication & Direction: Deliver operational instructions, conduct safety trainings, and coordinate workflow requirements in both English and Spanish to ensure team alignment across shift operations.
  • Quality Assurance & Process Improvement: Collaborate with QA and Engineering teams to implement process enhancements, support new product integration, and ensure adherence to quality frameworks (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or AS9100).
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with Maintenance teams to schedule preventative maintenance and work with Supply Chain personnel to balance material inventory and operational capacity.
  • Resource & Cost Management: Oversee shift resource allocation, support cost-reduction initiatives, and evaluate modern manufacturing equipment and software applications.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and direct industry leadership experience).
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on rubber manufacturing experience, including progressive supervisory or management experience.
  • Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of rubber compounding, curing, and molding procedures (compression, injection, or transfer).
  • Language Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to read, write, and converse fluently in both English and Spanish to execute daily job responsibilities, deliver safety trainings, and direct shift personnel.
  • Technical Systems: Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001/IATF 16949/AS9100) and proficiency with production planning tools or standard Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior operational background in automotive, aerospace, or industrial custom rubber manufacturing.
  • Recognized certifications in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Practical experience utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications (e.g., SYSPRO, Oracle).

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Shift: 3rd Shift (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
  • Environment: Industrial manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery operations, elevated temperatures, operational noise, and raw rubber compounds. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and provided.
  • Flexibility: Schedule adjustments or additional supervisory oversight may occasionally be required based on production volume and operational demands.
