Each and every role in our organization contributes to our ability to change the world for the better. In the role of Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Generation, we’ll count on you to lead teams for power generation design projects and support traditional Owner’s Engineering responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Have experience within the utility scale power and renewable energy industry and be capable of leading teams for power generation design projects including supporting in a traditional Owner’s Engineering role.
• Have extensive experience in power generation and distribution, renewable energy, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance of plant designs such as raceway, lighting, and grounding systems.
• Interest and experience in the exciting market of renewables and battery energy storage systems (BESS) is very desired.
• Mentor junior engineers, support in managing client relationships, and lead marketing activities including proposal technical writing, fee builds, and work breakdown structure development in response to requests for proposals.
• A significant level of design and engineer‑of‑record work experience with power plant systems is required.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering with an Electrical Power emphasis.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas or ability to obtain reciprocity.
• 15+ years’ experience in electrical power generation and renewable energy design.
• Field experience, including startup and commissioning.
• Experience in renewable energy (PV, BESS, etc.) and DER or “microgrid” projects is highly desired.
• Previous experience with an engineering power consulting firm desired.
• Willingness to grow into a team lead or section manager role.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi‑discipline consulting team, or as a lead on a small team.
• Extensive knowledge of three‑phase electrical power, protection and control design and settings development, system grounding, physical design, and experience with other activities such as lighting and grounding design, including instrumentation and control and life safety systems.
• Instrumentation and Controls experience particularly with DCS and PLC systems is a plus.
• Work with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed.
• Direct the activities of other engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must.
• Position will include an expectation of less than 10% travel for meetings with clients and vendors as well as project site visits.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license).
• Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit).
