Human Resources Department Central Connecticut State University invites applications to jointhe Human Resources Department as a full-time Human ResourcesAssociate. We seek applicants who can provide an array of supportive responsibilities and processing in the following areas: recruitment and talent acquisition, employee onboarding and orientation, time and attendance, employee benefits, compensation and payroll, recruitment processing, and leave management. One of the primary responsibilities will be the creation, revision, and analysis of job descriptions, as well as assisting with hiring and processing adjunct faculty, processing dual employment forms, and other labor relations matters. Position Profile This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to shape the workforce and maintaining positive labor relations. In this role, you will be at the forefront of defining job descriptions and ensuring compliance with Union contracts, handbooks, and classification standards. Additionally, the candidate will play a vital role in hiring and processing adjunct faculty, processing dual employment forms, and other employee and labor relations matters, helping to resolve employee concerns and conflicts. The successful candidate will have a direct impact on shaping our organization’s culture and workforce dynamics. May lead professional and/or support staff as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The Human Resources Associate must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities in labor relations. The incumbent must possess demonstrated ability to apply principles and practices of public human resources management including relevant Federal and Statute statutes and regulations, University and CSCU policies and procedures, considerable knowledge of, and ability to use, human resources information systems and other computerized platforms, software and technologies; considerable knowledge of, and demonstrated ability to apply, management and supervisory principles and practices; demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership and team-building; demonstrated success working in a unionized environment with multiple collective bargaining agreements; demonstrated superior written and oral communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to relate and work collegially, constructively and effectively with a variety of stakeholders, groups and individuals, as well as the ability to work independently. Applicant Evaluative Criteria Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following: Experience and Training: Five (5) years of professional experience in human resources, equal opportunity/affirmative action, labor relations, payroll, or employee benefit administration. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related area may be substituted for four (4) years of experience of the General Experience. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications, organizational, and presentational skills. Highly proficient in Microsoft Suite. Ideal Candidate Bachelor’s Degree Experience working in a unionized workforce Ability to read and interpret collective bargaining agreements Experience working in the public sector Two (2) years of experience in a Human Resources setting Knowledge of CORE-CT HRMS Experience writing job descriptions Compensation and Employee Benefits The Human Resources Associate is compensated at the Professional 3 salary level in accordance with CSCU Human Resources Policies for Management and Confidential Professional Personnel.
