Job Summary Family Support Navigator – remote and travel within New Mexico. Provides non‑clinical, evidence‑based peer support services and acts as a member and family advocate. Responsibilities Provides peer support to families and caregivers of children with mental health and substance use conditions. Guides families in creating Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) to recognize strengths and develop wellness self‑management and crisis prevention strategies. Utilizes the eight dimensions of wellness to help parents/caregivers identify social determinants of health needs and set whole‑health goals. Guides and empowers family members to understand and participate in all decisions related to the treatment process, support plan, service choices, and transitions in care. Coaches and role‑models from a parent’s perspective, drawing on life experience to inspire hope and empowerment. Facilitates support and education for families with questions or needs related to mental health or substance use and their relationship to service agencies. Shares lived experience strategically to promote recovery‑oriented principles and positive action. Performs ongoing interventions to engage families in traditional and non‑traditional health services, community support networks, and peer, parent, and family support services. Facilitates a team approach to member care with the care coordination team. Implements, coordinates, and monitors strategies to improve health and quality of life outcomes for members and families. Advocates for family and member needs by identifying gaps in services and supports. Educates providers, staff, members, and families on resiliency and recovery‑oriented practices and tools. Documents all interactions according to company standards. Maintains professional responsibility to manage supervision, respond to personal stressors, recognize crisis situations, and respond appropriately. Travels to meet families within the community. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Two or more years of experience as a family peer specialist. State‑required Peer Specialist certification. National Certified Peer Specialist (NCPS) credential within one year of hire. Must be or have been a parent or caregiver of a child with mental health or substance use challenges. Ability to draw from personal experience to support families navigating services and resources. Positive, hopeful, and recovery‑oriented attitude; approachable, empathetic, and strong people skills. Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for community travel. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Strong analytical, decision‑making, and independent thinking abilities. Excellent organizational skills and clear verbal and written communication. Ability to represent family and member needs in clinical settings. Must be able to summarize findings, document accurately, and work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment. Education Associate degree (required). Licenses and Certifications Valid driver’s license (required). State‑required Peer Specialist Certification (required). National Certified Peer Specialist (NCPS) credential (required, must be obtained within one year of hire). Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $41,505 – $62,255. The position may include short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, life, and voluntary benefits.
