Registered Behavior Technician: NIU Cohort Student - Northern Region

Position Summary:As an full-time RBT, ABA Cohort student at Westside Children's Therapy, you will serve as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), directly implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programming under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This placement offers a unique opportunity to translate your NIU coursework into real-world clinical practice through predominantly play-based therapy, supporting children in the development of communication, social, adaptive, and behavioral skills.Essential Functions:Implement direct therapy services for assigned clients and caseload, following programming written by BCBAEngage with BCBA during regular supervision sessions to ask questions and receive feedbackCollect and record data on patients behaviorComplete and submit required documentation (SOAP notes, etc) in a timely manner, aligned with Westside's policies and proceduresDevelop strong relationships with the children on your caseload and strive to make every session a fun experienceRequired Education, Experience and Credentials:Bachelor’s Degree6 months of ABA experience or 1 year of work experience with individuals with AutismActive RBT certificationBecome actively enrolled in a Master’s program with an emphasis on Applied Behavior AnalysisKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Strong verbal and written communication skillsCompetence with a variety of computer applicationsComfortable persona to better develop relationships with children and their familiesPersonal Attributes:Collaborative spirit and willingness to work as a teamPassion for working with children with special needsPatient with the ability to redirect clients frequently and compassionatelyAccountable for personal behavior and performanceReceptive to feedback with a commitment to personal and professional developmentConsistency and reliability to ensure continuity of careWork Environment and Physical Demands:Ability to learn and implement de-escalation skills for client sessionsAbility to lift or carry 30 lbsAbility to work in a variety of positions, including on the floor during played-based therapyTravel RequirementsOccasional travel to Westside Children's Therapy clinics to provide client coverage as requested/neededOther DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
