Network Development Engineer Intern - Fall 2026

Amazon internships are full-time positions, and interns should expect to work onsite Monday-Friday, up to 40 hours per week typically between 8am-5pm. Specific team norms around working hours will be communicated by your manager. Interns should not have conflicts such as classes or other employment during the Amazon work-day. Applicants should have a minimum of one quarter/semester/trimester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes. As a Network Engineer working within AWS Infrastructure you will be responsible for deploying network infrastructure across all of our network fabrics that supports the Amazon Retail Service, Kindle, Payments and multiple AWS services. You will work closely with our automation teams in defining the tools that allow us to scale at unprecedented volume. You’ll have the opportunity to deploy, scale and automate our network across multiple global datacenter, including existing footprints and greenfield locations. • Create simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase both velocity and quality.
• Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
• Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.

Basic Qualifications

• Work 40 hours/week minimum and commit to 12 week internship maximum
• Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment
• Experience in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Javascript
• Are 18 years of age or older
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Telecommunications or similar program with a graduation conferral date between October 2026 - December 2029

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF and other R&S technologies
• Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures
