About the Position

Job Title: RN - Pediatric Post Anesthesia Care Unit Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric Post Anesthesia Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required, 2 years preferred in critical care pediatrics License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: - Experience caring for pediatric patients (ages 0-17) - Self-motivated and resourceful with the ability to seek help when needed - Team player with an open bay unit mentality Description: The RN in the Pediatric Post Anesthesia Care Unit provides care for pediatric patients. The position involves managing patients primarily in a post-operative setting. Typical patient ratios are RN: 1:1 or 1:2, depending on acuity. The RN will encounter various pediatric surgical specialties, excluding cardiac cases. The role requires comfort in managing infusions commonly seen in critical care settings, such as heparin and insulin. Limited use of BiPAP is expected, primarily in the post-operative phase. While primarily focused on pediatric care, the RN may occasionally care for adult patients based on unit needs. Telemetry monitoring is an essential part of the responsibilities. Support staff is available, including transport and unit reception. Anesthesia services are available 24/7. Scrubs will be provided for this position.
