Japanese Bilingual Accounts Payable ClerkEstablished in 1926, Mutual Trading Co., Inc. was originally a small co-op organization for centralized purchasing of basic import foods to service the needs of the early Japanese immigrant society in Southern California. We've grown 100 years old now, and command a premiere position among Japanese foodservice suppliers, as well as fill a key role as "Culinary Ambassador" promoting Japanese foods worldwide. Currently, we import, manufacture, and distribute over 8,000 Japanese foods, beverages, restaurant equipment and supplies.All paid Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance for employees and their dependentsLife Insurance and 401k Plan with company match.Location: El Monte, CAHours: M-F: 8AM – 5PMEssential Job FunctionsAccounts Payable duties (50%):Process manual and wire paymentsReview invoices and update the Company databaseMonitor and verify payment with vendors in a timely mannerReview AP balance and resolve invoice discrepanciesCreate and maintain vendor files and 1099s on the Company databaseGenerate and upload daily banking reportsAccounts Receivable Duties (50%):Post customer payments by recording cash, check, and credit card transactionsWork with the banks and sales teams to ensure collection of upcoming payments and resolve overdue paymentsLiaise with banks to verify electronic cash transfers and credit card paymentsReview AR balance and assist in reconciling discrepanciesCreate credit memos for overpayments and underpaymentsWork with collection agencies to clear delinquent paymentsOther DutiesAttend Company events and functions outside of normal working hoursPerforms other duties as assignedPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit for extended periods of timeAbility to type and use the computer for extended periods of timeAbility to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 poundsWorking ConditionsNoise Level: NormalIndoorsOther RequirementsBasic level English – read/write/speak/listenBasic level Japanese preferred – read/write/speak/listenMaintain a positive attitudeAbility to work independently and as a teamAbility to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workloadAssociate's Degree or above required.2+ years of relevant experience preferred.Microsoft NAV system experience preferredKnowledge and SkillsBasic mathematical knowledge – markups, discounts, currency, etc.Problem-solving skillsAdvanced Microsoft Office proficiencyCommunication and interpersonal skillsExceptional organization and time management skillsExperience with bank reconciliation and tracking credit card transactionsDisclaimersThis position description is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements.
