Outside Sales Representative
Our client is a privately held commercial furniture dealership that specializes in educational institutions, nonprofits, municipalities, and small businesses. They are looking for an Outside Sales Representative to join their growing team in the greater Detroit area and support a $2M book of existing business. Compensation will offer a base in the upper five-figure range, with 22% uncapped commission on all sales over $250,000 GP.
What You'll Do
- Identify prospective customers and actively develop new relationships
- Build and maintain trusted, long-term partnerships with educators, designers, and architects
- Expand the companys presence within assigned market segments
- Consistently grow revenue through proactive account management and business development
- Understand customer needs and translate them into effective learning environment solutions
- Collaborate with manufacturers and internal teams to design flexible, future-ready environments
- Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations
- Develop and present accurate, professional customer quotes
- Guide customers through the full project lifecycle from discovery through implementation
- Ensure alignment between customer expectations and delivered solutions
- Oversee project execution to ensure a smooth and successful installation experience
- Provide post-installation support to ensure customers realize the full value of their investment
- Stay informed on industry trends, educational practices, and evolving learning environments
- Bring insights and market intelligence to customers and internal teams
- Continuously strengthen product knowledge and solution capabilities
- Partner with Sales Leadership, Design, and Operations to deliver cohesive project outcomes
- Ensure accurate communication of project requirements across internal teams
- Support a collaborative culture focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences
What You'll Need
- Strong sense of urgency, professionalism, and integrity
- Prior sales or business development experience preferred (not required)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail with strong follow-through
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Background in education or passion for education is a plus
