SECURITY SPECIALIST

Summary You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Development & Acquisition) Navy International Programs Office (Navy IPO) of NIPO FMS FIELD OFFICE. Responsibilities You will maintain the Defense Information Security System (DISS) for Navy IPO personnel. You will prepare informational packages for new Navy IPO personnel (contractors, military service members and civil servants). You will assist the Security manager or Assistant Security Manager in performing in-processing of personnel in DISS, record security access, NATO security access and security attestations (if required) in DISS. You will provide guidance and information on security regulations and procedures, exercising sound judgement and discretion in response to telephone and in person security inquiries. You will maintain records of all meetings and security training for members of the command. You will perform duties of a front desk security/receptionist, and support physical security (access control), personnel and information security programs. You will analyze incoming inquires and respond with information or direct a caller to appropriate subject matter expert. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04/NH-01 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying security policy, procedures, techniques and methods to a variety of work situations at various degrees of security control. Entering, maintaining and retrieving information in a security database such as Defense Information System for Security (DISS) for security clearance data. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree OR 3 years of generalized experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4 Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable. This position has been designated as a Security Professional Education Development (SPeD), designated position. Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) is required within 2 years of assuming this position and must be maintained through the entire length of employment. Failure to achieve the required SPeD certification or loss of this certification during employment is grounds for removal.
